Neither of these options sound great. It may surprise you that Mormon youth live the law of chastity and marry very much later than age 18. The divorce rate for couples who marry in Mormon temples is about 7%.

Today, I don’t think many people advise getting married so young. Those who do get divorced at astronomically high rates. What’s better, to get married at 18, have children, then become divorced and a single parent, or become sexually active, have a few relationships, get your heart broken, learn a lot, and then get married when you really know yourself and the other person?
