Mormon.org is the newly-renovated website of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to introduce friends of other faiths to Mormons and Mormonism. Thousands of Latter-day Saints have submitted profiles to the website, and it is not only possible to chat with a Mormon, or a Mormon missionary, if desired, it is also possible to order a free holy Bible or Book of Mormon.
The Church recently launched a series of short videos introducing members of the Church, and those videos, called “I’m a Mormon,” are also found on the site. Visitors may learn the basic beliefs of Mormonism on the site and ask questions.
One section explains the values of the members of the Church, with headings such as…Strengthening Families, Service to Others, Missionary Work, Lifelong Learning, Freedom to Choose, Humanitarian Aid, Good Citizenship, and Family History.
Another section, called “Our Faith,” has the following headings— Jesus Christ-Our Savior, God’s Plan of Happiness, Restoration of the Gospel, God’s Commandments, Christ’s Church, Joseph Smith, Book of Mormon, and Articles of Faith.
There is also a section that helps the visitor to find a Mormon meetinghouse, or to visit LDS historical sites. Many people are also desirous of finding a local Mormon Family History Center, where volunteers are happy to help friends of other faiths with their genealogical searches.
There is also a page of frequently asked questions. Most people know very little about the Mormon Church, and what they have heard is wrong. Mormon.org is a great place to learn the basics and to find out what Mormons really believe, and what they’re really like. Following are a few “I’m a Mormon” video clips from the site.
